We have recently discovered compatibility issues with two older e-book compilers. Two 16 Bit e-Book compilers are intended to run e-books in Windows 95-98 and may not work correctly in some 32 Bit operating systems like Windows XP SP2 which are newer than their compilers. Some of the identified e-books are contained in many e-book packages offered by all e-book sellers on the Internet. We have no control on what changes Microsoft makes in their software or security updates. The e-books in question are older e-books inside of third party packages.
 eBook Creator or E-Book Paper 2000
E-books created with this compiler have an Icon like the one above and to the left. This compiler creates a temporary file on your hard disk to display linked pages. A recent Windows XP SP-2 security update if installed will prevent this e-book from opening temporary files, your main page will load but none of the internal links will work.
You may see a screen similar to this one when trying to open links from the main page.
I have created a step-by-step tutorial that will guide you through fixing this problem on your computer for all ebooks with the problem if you already have the XP-2 Upgrade installed. You can also download it free in ebook format. You may feel free to share tins information with others free.
An automated free third party software program is also available that fixes this problem.
 E-Book Creator 2000
E-books created with this compiler will work fine the first
time they are opened. Every time after that you will get a Windows I/O error, the e-book will request a password, and the e-book must be closed. The workaround is to rename the e-book EACH time before you open it. A third party solution exists you can order the trial free, still the easiest solution is to rename the file before re-opening it.
Upgrade Process
We have perhaps the biggest most updated collection of Information products offered anywhere on the Internet at any time on our websites. We are involved in an ongoing process of identifying and where possible upgrading products compiled with these compilers with newer versions. We still supply the original Windows95/98 compatible products when newer versions are unavailable. Packages contained within our CD products may still contain products from third parties compiled with these compilers. We are busy trying to get their owners to update those packages, and will always work hard to include the latest versions of every product. A third party software program is available that fixes the Windows XP SP2 security update problem.
Compatibility problems are with Windows XP sp2 users with security upgrades installed. Most problems can be fixed by downloading & running the eBook Fixer.
