In math class we are taught that one and one equals two. In business it's through the art of Joint Ventures we can determine the true value of one plus one. In business one plus one can add up to a lot more.
Using Cooperation Rather Than Competition
Joint ventures are the most powerful marketing technique anyone can use to make more profit and reach more people that would be interested in your offer. At the same time, Joint Ventures are the most misunderstood of all marketing techniques.
Joint Ventures come in so many forms I can't possibly touch on them all in this article. It's enough to say that by thinking outside the box anyone can come up with win-win Joint Ventures to sell anything.
Affiliate Programs - Joint Ventures of the First Kind
Affiliate Programs on the Internet are the most common but not necessarily the most profitable form of Joint Venture. Affiliate programs were first seen in Network Marketing companies years ago where the focus was in recruiting customers to become the sales force for products they already buy, The first companies specialized in products everyone buys over and over, Amway for example is a Network Marketing company that specializes in selling cleaning products.
On the Internet an Affiliate Program is a great way to gain selling power and to reach more people through on Internet than one could reach on their own. Thousands of marketing experts make a good income selling products they, never created, and don't actually ship to customers themselves. This income model works so well for selling products and services that many companies sell over 90% of all sales through Affiliate Marketing.
Content for Publicity
Everyone has a passion, and is an expert in something. What have you earned the right to share with others? One of the simplest Joint Ventures is offering your expertise in exchange for free exposure or publicity of some kind.
For example, I allow other publishers to publish my articles and by doing so I reach thousands of people who wouldn't have read the article on my website or newsletter. Consider how you might co-brand, exchange, add value to, or distribute your content to a bigger or more receptive audience than you already do.
Reprint Rights
The buying and selling of reprint rights are Joint Ventures. You can earn income on your information products, the rights to sell the product to others, and from honest endorsements contained within your information products.
Information is the most profitable product anyone can sell on the Internet. I purchase products with reprint rights and resell those products, and whenever possible, I sell the same reprint rights to others. I also sell reprint, and distribution rights to content rich products I create myself.
Win-Win Endorsements
Giving and getting endorsements are valuable ways to leverage your special or unique expertise. Offering a free report or e-book to your visitors is a good idea, but don't stop there. When you can identify someone else can reach a segment in your market you can't you have a made to order Joint Venture opportunity? Offer them a commission on sales made through their market contacts.
Consider endorsed email promotions. You can offer to exchange mailings or endorse products that you like. Offer commissions on sales to others who can honestly endorse your product by mailing your information to their lists.
Don't EVER endorse a product you don't know or honestly believe in, and don't use or especially OVERuse your endorsement JUST to earn income.
Giving testimonials for products you honestly like is one of the best and least understood linking strategies you can use, you'll receive highly visible links to your website on popular pages, and people will contact you about your testimonials and visit your website as the result of your testimonials.
Partnering Through Cooperation
The first step in constructing a Joint Venture is to understand exactly what you have to offer that is most unique and valuable. In addition you need to understand in what areas you are weakest so you can identify ideal partner candidates, your ideal partners will be strongest in your weakest areas.
In a nutshell, Joint Ventures work when best when each party brings something to the table the other partner can't provide. This can be traffic, money, publicity, fame, connections, fulfillment services, expertise, the list goes on…
You must identify your greatest strengths and weaknesses. Successful Joint Ventures depend on you having something obvious to offer, you need to identify what that is, then find someone that both needs what you have AND can offer you what you need. Find this combination and you have found the key to riches on the Internet.
Leverage Your Efforts Using Joint Ventures
Joint Ventures leverage efforts to bring your products to entirely new markets. They may reverse your exposure to risk; earn your business more profit per sale or more total sales volume.

- Leverage OPF (Other People's Fame)
- Leverage OPE (Other People's Expertise)
- Leverage OPT (Other People's Time)
- Leverage OPP (Other Peoples Performance)
Leveraging your own effort in combination with the efforts of others is the foundation of advanced business practice. All highly successful businesses use Joint Ventures even though it's not always apparent to anyone else from the outside.
