The Internet has brought us, not only a multitude of much needed information, but more opportunity than ever before.
It's also beginning to change the way business people think and work. The mighty dollar is NOT always the prime focus of every business transaction any more. There are ways, like never before, to get something that's for sale, without ever exchanging any money.
I'm talking about Bartering, or Trading Products/Services.
Quite often, you'll find a site where you'd like to place your banner, or ad, but when you see the price, you decide it costs too much money, and move on. Big mistake!
Anybody and everybody who markets a product or service online is always looking for a good deal. Just because the webmaster of that great site is asking a whole lot to place a banner does NOT mean that he/she won't take less, or even something other than money.
Remember, most of us online are our own bosses. WE make the rules. There are no supervisors that need to approve every move we make.
I can't honestly remember a time that someone offered me some sort of trade for one of my books, or an ad, when I said no. I can remember dickering a couple of times, but never have I ever turned down an offer of a barter.
For example, as I've stated many times, I am CGI-Challenged. I'm not proud of this, but right now, it's just a fact. I know absolutely NOTHING about it, except that I sometimes need it to get things done in an efficient manner.
A couple of months ago, I had a huge (to me) CGI script that I needed installed. CGI experts charge A LOT. So, I found a man who agreed that if I would send him a copy of my book, and help him later on with his advertising, he'd install the script for me.
He wanted the experience, plus any help I could give him to expand his business, and I needed the CGI work done. It was profitable for us both. We saved some money, and both of us received something we needed.
If we're going to succeed online, we need to think in, as I call it, "The Way Of The Web." We need to change our actions and attitudes and that includes bartering.
The main thing to realize; the worst that can happen is the person will say no. BUT, remember.....you'll never know unless you ask.
