I GIVE UP! Sound familiar? I hope not, but to a handful of internet business owners daily, these are the final words uttered before shutting down their computer and walking away from their dreams of owning and operating a successful online business.
While the factor causing so many aspiring marketers to fail in this arena is no secret (the inability to generate a steady flow of traffic) the reason is. Why, in this era of information and technology are people still not able to piece together a sufficient marketing plan. Why are they having trouble generating traffic?
The answer is simple, Creativity. If you are not creative in your promotional efforts you will never be able to do anything that everyone else isn't already doing. Most successful web marketers sell the very techniques they have used to create a successful web presence and generate millions of visitors. So why it is that everyone who purchases these books cannot simply duplicate their efforts and enjoy the same success?
It's because they never "get out of the box", they never attempt to create their own traffic generating methods, they simply get trapped! I am not recommending that you do not purchase this kind of material as it will assist you in getting the wheels turning in your head, but never settle for someone else's advice as the final answer to your traffic generating needs. Rather, view it as a proven starting point.
From this point, you will need to start implementing some ideas of your own into your marketing plan. Coming up with ideas is simple, in fact it happens automatically. All you have to do is constantly think about your business and how you could get more people to visit your site. I know this sounds a little crazy, but I am dead serious. The more time you spend pondering this, the more and more ideas will starting coming to mind. >From here you simply have to take action. The best idea in the world won't bring you any visitors if you do not make it a reality.
To make this point more relevant, I want to give you some real life examples of creativity in action. Recently a "not so well known" online marketer, Victoria Steele came up with one of the hottest traffic generating ideas I have ever seen. You see, we marketers write articles such as this one, in hopes that if you like what you read or feel that the writer can help you, you will then visit our site, subscribe to our newsletter, etc. Well Vicky saw an opportunity in the medium of e-zine marketing and created a new section that would-be e-zine publishers can add to their publication for FREE coined "Ask Vicky." This is going to be the "Dear Abby" of electronic publishing. There is no doubt in my mind that with this, she will drive MILLIONS of visitors to her site over the coming years.
Another example of creativity in action is my own traffic generating masterpiece. I simply write a column for various newspapers offering advice and assistance to those looking for help in the internet marketing arena. Of course, I do this at no cost to the publishing company and they therefore allow me to recommend people to visit my site for more information which nets tremendous results.
In conclusion, it is important for you the individual marketer to understand that your long term success is found in you. Do not allow yourself to get stuck in the mainstream of basic marketing methods and principles. Instead read as much as you can about successful marketing techniques and start concentrating on the subject. I guarantee that if you "put your mind to it" ideas will start coming immediately. Not every idea will turn into millions of people visiting your site. Don't get discouraged, just keep plugging away with the proven methods you have learned while at the same time continuing to focus on thinking about ways to generate more traffic.
Success is in You!
