Now that the Olympic Games from Sydney, Australia are over the world can settle back into something remotely resembling sanity. We no longer need to feel the need to glue ourselves to the TV in an effort to find out what is happening. It's finished. Well, at least until the next leap year in Greece.
What was it you liked the most about the Olympic Games? Was it the sport, struggles, triumphs, dreams, pain, disappointment, courage or the euphoria of the world's biggest get together of people? Or was it something different altogether like the strength of human achievement?
There were 11,000 athletes parading through the streets of Sydney for the chance and opportunity to fulfill their dreams. Simply being there, for most, was the ultimate achievement and beyond their wildest dreams. The premise of the Games involves everyone doing their best and in so doing gets a shot at being the best there is.
The sheer might of human achievement was breath taking. Athletes performing above themselves and records tumbling in several disciplines. The joy of seeing all of this just made me even more determined to do what I have laid out for myself, in establishing and maintaining my dreams and goals, as well as putting the all important plan into place for their achievement.
To see the euphoria and happiness on the faces of the athletes reflected how their hard work, sweat and tears had paid off. It makes sense as to why. Some were fortunate enough to take a prize or two in Gold, Silver or Bronze home with them. The fact is no one can take it away. It will remain with them always. Once achieved, always achieved.
Do you hold your dreams and goals with similar respect? Are they worth working your guts inside out for to realize something which means the world to you? Your dreams and goals are as important to you as you make them. Most of them probably aren't as drastic as Gold Medal Olympians which require you to be the best in the whole world, but they are every bit as important. Since many of your goals won't involve being the world's best they may not be as difficult as those of the Olympians.
Human achievement is fascinating. Over the last few weeks we've seen the best in sport that was for the world to see. The time is nigh for you to put your best foot forward. Have you set yourself targets and goals? Have you drafted a plan to put the wheels in motion? This is where it starts! Your personal and business goals are only a plan away. Take the strength reflected from those many thousands of athletes, use their drive and successes as a template for your own goals, and ultimately, your success.
Oh yes - and like the athletes, never ever give up on your dreams.
