I have a cousin who just bought a Subway Franchise. She is one smart cookie and will most likely be successful. In about three or so years!! She says that it will take her that long to pay off her loan and to be in the black! Even so, here are the reasons that I believe that she will be successful. One- She has burned her bridges. She has to work this business to succeed. She isn't doing it part-time while she is working... she is in her franchise 100%! Two - She has such high costs! She will take her business very seriously and be committed to recouping her expenses! Three - She researched and very conciously chose Subway. She knows that she has made the best decision for her and isn't going to be opportunity hopping. She is secure in her decision. What does this have to do with us? Well, first of all, we can easily see success much faster than She will. We will not have to pay rent, employees, advertising, or employee benefits. Our profit generally stays profit! Our success doesn't have to take three years!!! So, who between the two of us do you think will be more committed? The franchise owner who sees success as a three year away possibility? Or the Internet Network Marketer who sees success as a three month away possibility? Unfortunately the answer is the franchise owner. Why? One - Commitment. The Internet Network Marketer is more likely trying. They may post one ad or one newsgroup posting, and when they don't see their mailbox filled with hordes of downline, decide that that didn't really work. And give up! Lesson? Two - High costs! But when you have spent over six thousand dollars... well, that is a different story! You are determined to recoup it! Lesson? What else? Three - Patience. The franchise owner expects a long haul and sees every day as a step closer to success. They see every little success as a big success because they know that they are building something! The Internet Marketer believes that if it doesn't happen in the first 30 days they may as well quit. They don't see that it is a business and needs to grow! Lesson? Four - Research. Just as our Franchise owner carefully selects her opportunity, you should do the same. Choose your business carefully. I can't tell you what to look for because only you know what you need and what will interest you. And more importantly, Choose your upline carefully. Ineffective and inattentive uplines are the cause for more failures in this industry than any other reason. Once you have chosen your upline carefully, be committed to learning what they know and what they can teach you. The fact is that we have a far more amazing opportunity than any franchise owner could ever have. We make money sooner, we are our own bosses completely, and we are riding the wave of the future. The Internet. We don't have to work 16 hours a day waiting for our business to grow enough to hire a manager, we don't have to worry about employee benefits, and we don't have to follow any company plan.
