A herd of gnus are grazing on the savannah with some zebras. They're always on the look out for potential dangers. Hidden in the grass is a lioness and her pride. She's been there a while. She's observed. She knows which one is the weakest - the one which will sustain her family for the next few days.
At the opportune moment she springs into action. "Achtung" - it's happening. The hunted spread as they try to evade the pursuit. The lioness makes a bee-line for her target. Successful, she brings back her catch back to her cubs.
These animals are all part of a living cycle. The gnus control the flora and fauna on the plains and the lion controls the gnu population. They all slot in. Most animals have one thing in common; the concept of survival. The entire life of the gnu centres around having sufficient to graze upon and not get killed by a hungry predator. That's it!!!
They don't get to go to the cinema. They can't put on a backpack, walk into Nairobi Airport and fly around the world. There's a major difference that separates the human race from the animal world; that of choice. We choose, in essence, where we want to live, our friends, our surroundings, our financial situation, our posessions etc. In a nutshell we steer our lives the way we would like them to head. We have the choice to thrive or survive. We have the ultimate power in this world to do more than roam around the Kenyan savannnah eternally living in fear of being stripped of the one thing most dear to us all - life itself.
An interesting statistic is that in the United States approximately one in ten people in the entire workforce are self-employed. This means that every businessperson is, on average, responsible for the life and livelihood of nine other breadwinners.
Recently I asked my subscribers the weekly survey question asking if they preferred self-employment as opposed to employee status. A whopping 97% stood behind the concept of self- employment. Working for yourself!!! When looking at the above statistic as an employee of a company in a highly developed country such as The States and your company of employment goes broke then you (and nine other employees) are out of work. This can be catastrophic, especially when you have mortgage payments (and other responsibilities).
Nine in ten people are making other people wealthy. If you are a part of this 90% wouldn't you like to transfer to the 10% minority. Wouldn't you like to exercise your power of choice to carve your own life rather than have it decided 4U? The poor gnu on the plains doesn't have this choice. Well, not in our lifetime anyway!!!
In the title of this article you read "The Power Of Choice - Whisky, Liqueur Or Cheap Wine". Without being prejudiced cheap wine has no taste (actually that's not quite true. It does have taste and it tastes, well, cheap). It has minimal quality and won't do you any favours. If you don't exercise your power of choice to improve your life and lifestyle you may accept mediocrity and become accustomed to the cheap wine flavour in your mouth.
If you wake up to your dreams, goals, desires, and more importantly, intentions, and follow them with the burning desire to realise them, you progressively realise your worthwhile pre-determined goals. Your cheap wine will become beer - sparkling wine - champagne and eventually whisky liqueur.
Do you want to emigrate to self-employment?

Do you have the guts to chase what you believe in with a vengeance to see it through???

I take nothing away from the gnus on the plains but they don't have this opportunity. The power of choice available to you and I is unrivalled. So many of us accept what we get as the way it's meant to be. This does not need to be so. Choosing to be better needs to be learned and understood but commences with a decision.
