Get Your Own!
Today I'd like to talk about what you're selling. No, not that affiliate program you're marketing or the software you're reselling, I want to talk about YOUR product or service. What's that? You're still trying to decide what you want to offer to the world? Well, the internet isn't getting any younger ya know. Don't you think it's time you started developing that product or service you can call your own? Perhaps you're thinking, "Why bother?" It's much easier to join a few reseller programs, kick back and watch the dough flow in, right? Wrong. The very best way to make money, either online or off, is to market your own products or services. There is just no substitute for YOUR OWN product or service. Here's why... Now, perhaps you already have a product or service in mind for your online business. If not, here's an idea for you to consider... "Specialized Information Products" Now before you think, "Hey I'm not a writer, that is not for me", let me say this: Specialized Information Products are for EVERY business. Whether you plan to sell them or use them in your marketing strategies, you need to learn how to put together a solid information product. If you're trying to come up with something you can sell on the internet, stick to what you know. Everyone knows something about a particular subject. Whether it is "golfing" or "model airplane flying", you can easily create your own information products. Simply take your area of expertise and start writing down everything you know about it. Think back to everything you have learned over the years about it. This is the type of information others want and need. They will pay good money to save their valuable time and get the facts that you already know. Once you have all your facts organized, you simply mold them into a marketable format. (More on this below.) Even if you don't want to sell your new information product, it will make an excellent marketing vehicle. Give free copies away to your web site visitors. This is a proven marketing tactic used by many successful entrepreneurs. Here are a few examples of business people giving away AND selling information products for HUGE profits. Throughout history, information products have been a top seller and this trend is stronger than ever in cyberspace. These information products range in price from free to hundreds of dollars. Could your business use a boost in sales? An information product may be all you need. Remember, whether you sell it or give it away free to prospects, it can really work wonders. When you're ready to start on your own information product, here's the best way to go about it... For starters, just begin writing! The rest may be easier than you think. Thanks to computers and the internet, info products are no longer restricted to just paper and ink. You can self-publish in many forms, including electronic media. Electronic publishing is perfect for internet marketers. Multimedia projects like e-books and e-manuals are fun to create and can yield large recurring profits. A few years ago if you wanted to create an electronic info product had to hire a company to do it for you. Anything other than simple text files were difficult to produce on your own. Along comes the internet... Electronic publishing is now easier than ever. There are now many simple and inexpensive ways to do it yourself. Full multimedia productions can be created inexpensively and distribution is virtually free via the World Wide Web! Options for creating multimedia information products are numerous. Available formats include html, pdf and many more. While many e-publishers recommend the pdf option because it is compatible with both Mac and PC, I found the need for downloading a separate "reader program" a burden. When I created my recent e-books I researched many different options. I settled on a simple program that allowed me to create a single downloadable "executable" file (.exe) which I can distribute at my website. I accomplished this with a program called NeoBook. This program allows you to create interactive multimedia publications. It integrates text, images, sound, color and interactive controls. The final product you create with NeoBook can be exported as a ".exe" file and distributed via CD, disk or the web. I created two products with this program and liked it so much I decided to offer it at my site. You'll find the e-books (one is completely free) and a demo of the NeoBook software at: Here are a few other programs that you can use to create multimedia information products... ForeHelp by ForeFront http://www.webcompiler.com WebCompiler is an HTML Compiler that allows you to take a collection of HTML, either from a website you already have or HTML you prepare specially, and turn it into a single self-contained "executable" file. Very little technical knowledge is required to do so. (Requires Internet Explorer browser to compile and view.) Yet another option for electronic publishing is simply a website. Many online publishers are creating web based information products and selling passwords to the private site. This is actually a new area I've delved into personally, in partnership with a few other prominent I-marketers at http://www.bizweb2000.com/imc/ Our private site is one of the first to implement actual movies as part of the detailed training and consulting. Using RealNetworks new G2 RealPlayer the site allows members to actually watch the monitors of our PC's and hear audio as we "show them" actual internet marketing techniques. Before long we'll have a complete library of movies for our members to watch. There's no better way to train someone on using CGI, or programs like Eudora, FTP, etc. The applications are limited only by our members' imaginations! This is just another example of where information products are headed. As the internet evolves you'll see more and more marketers going to new formats such as this. Thanks to the internet, creating valuable info products is now easier than ever. You are now armed with the knowledge you need to "get your own" product out to the millions of web surfers just waiting for it! It's easy, it's fun, and best of all, it's profitable. JIM DANIELS,
