Yes, the internet is a virtual world filled with thousands, if not, millions of ways to make money. It is not a get rich quick scheme nor is it the place where you can pay somebody $50 to put up a cookie cutter site with your name on it, sit back and watch as the zeros add up into your bank account.

So here is my list of DON'TS for starting an Internet Business:

• DON'T believe everything your read.
• DON'T buy memberships into every "marketing" site you see.
• DON'T expect to not have to work.
• DON'T expect every Tom, Dick and Harry to buy your product.
• DON'T blow your whole monthly advertising budget on one campaign.
• DON'T ever use your rent money to buy advertising.

As you can see this is a short list and yet if you follow these six "DON'TS" you will not fizzle out before you have a chance to get started.

Remember that you ar not the only one who has recognized the opportunity and that some other people are out there with a less then scrupulous business ethic.

Every time you hear/read/see something out there that sounds to good to be true ALWAYS,ALWAYS, ALWAYS read, study and analyze the opportunity. If you don't jump in before you figure out the legitimacy of the offer you will save yourself lots of time and money. If the offer is as good as it sounds don't feel like it will be gone if you don't act now. Good deals and good products will be there after a couple of days of contemplation and research.

Take if from somebody who had several thousand dollars of his hard earned money "disappear" while looking for a way to cash in on the internet bonanza. Make sure you completely understand what you are getting involved in before you commit a dime of your money.

When you finally find an opportunity that gets your blood pumping and you have checked it out six ways from Sunday make sure you take that out that last bit of insurance. Find out the main person who is behind the opportunity and email or call them personally. Don't talk to a salesperson, marketing pro or secretary, get to the bigshot and ask him/her a couple of questions that cannot be answered from an autoresponder or script.

Ask them things like:

• Why did you start this business?
• How much time/money does this really take?
• Can I fail at this?
• How much can I lose if I fail?
• What percentage of the business did you start with your own cash?

Then shut your mouth and your eyes and really listen to the answers. Don't just hear the words but listen to the feelings behind them. If after listening for a few minutes you feel like you are talking to a tape recorder, hang up the phone, change your email address, change your home phone number, move if you have to but don't ever have any contact with that organization again.

Chances are you were not talking to a real living, feeling, breathing human being but an internet money sucker.

Now if you "hear" a real person on the other end of the line, somebody that isn't a phoney, well then you might just have hold of an honest to goodness opportunity there.
