7 Habits Of Highly Successful Internet Advertisers

As a webmaster at the Inet Exchange I have seen a few good marketing techniques and alot of ones in need of a tune up. If you follow the advice in this free report you'll be on your way to making a fortune in cyberspace!
This report has been pieced together using my knowledge, articles from newsletters and information found on-line. Where ever possible I have attempted to give credit where it is due.
HABIT #1
You must use a signature or sig file on all your e-mails and correspondence.
THE SIG TECHNIQUE; SIGN YOUR WAY TO SUCCESS!
Just like in everyday correspondence, e-mail messages, bulletin board postings, and Usenet messages usually contain a signature block. These signatures can be created as a separate files called a .sig files and added to the end of Internet messages. In many regards your Internet signature is much more important than your handwritten signature. It gives you the opportunity to tell the world a little bit more about who you are and what you stand for.
These tips will allow you to perfect a powerful, hard hitting sig file. A sig that people will see and respond to.
GUIDELINES FOR CREATING EFFECTIVE SIG FILES
To be most effective, a sig file should do as many of the following guidelines as possible (they are not mutually exclusive):
A. Target your market clearly The more targeted the Sig file, the more powerful it is as a marketing tool.
Tip: If you are targeting more than one market, it's very appropriate and advisable to compose a different sig for each target market. It's not at all uncommon to make regular use of three or four alternative sig files.
B. State a major benefit that appeals to your target market. Benefits work. You must tell the customer, "Whats in it for them"
C. Offer Some Kind of Useful Free Information.
This is actually a variant on the previous technique of offering a major benefit that appeals to your target market. Offering something for free is best. This is the approach we use - and it works! Virtually every time we post to a mailing list subscriptions increase by 5 to 10 times their normal rate. Even posts to very small or obscure lists seem to generate this effect.
D. Use humor to be outrageous and snare attention.

I just made this up, but you get the point, humor works.
E. Make it easy to get in touch with you.
Provide lots of easy ways people can ask you for more information. Different people prefer different options: send email, visit a Web site, make a phone call, use the FAX, etc.
F. Make your sig file fairly short: from 4 lines to a max of 6.
Some mailing lists and newsgroups will reject messages with excessive sig files. And even though this won't be a concern when corresponding through email on a person-to-person basis, there is still this to consider: the bigger a sig is, the more likely it is to annoy people.
G. Have a specific "call to action."
Some calls to action would include "subscribe" or "visit a Web site."
A word of caution: Be aware that the Internet community is offended by (and sometimes reacts harshly to) blunt, hard-sell sales spiels. So, carefully think out your signature before sending it out. Good sig files inform or engage the reader. Bad sigs come across as self indulgent and rude.

You must promote your Web Page, having a great Web Page does you no good at all if nobody can find it, Its like having a beautiful shopping mall in the middle of the Desert!! 10 TIPS FOR CREATING AN EFFECTIVE WEBSITE

1. Create an effective title. Many search engines weigh the data in your title more heavily then other data in your page. Make sure that your title has keywords that represent your site effectively.
2. Change your title periodically. By changing your title periodically your page can be resubmitted and re-indexed multiple times by the search engines. Use judgment when resubmitting the same page several times, some consider this use of the search engines impolite or unfair.
3. Make multiple copies of your page with different emphasis. Copy your page several times and make keyword changes in the data contained in your page. Store all pages on your server.
4. Use meta tags to pack your page with information pertaining to the category your page fits in. For instance if your page is promoting a phone service, you may want to incorporate words like long distance, flat rates, save money. Think of words that customers would use to search and use those.
5. Link to Competitors' links. If your Web site is not listed in the top thirty, contact all the sites in the top twenty for you category and see if they will trade links with you. Links remain a very powerful method for people to find your Web site.
6. Banner Ads are very popular [expensive] method of promoting your Web site. These are the little rectangular graphics that you see near the bottom of the same popular Web site. 7. Keep your site updated. Make sure that your site is up to date. No one likes to go to a page that never changes or that is very out of date. Make sure that the data in your page portrays the message that you want to send. Add useful CONTENT to your pages so visitors find value in their visit. They may not purchase your products today, but they may in the future.
8. Condense you graphics. Many visitors leave your page before they ever see your message because it takes too long to load. By keeping your graphics small your visitors will be more likely to stay.

9. Utilize the newsgroups. Find news groups that pertain to your site and post information about your site in the newsgroups. Make sure you include your e-mail address and your page address.
Here are some popular ones, but remember, always check a newsgroups FAQ's before posting to avoid making all the users angry with advertising messages.

Put your web address, URL, and auto responder on everything, and I mean everything. Business cards, stationary, license plates, coffee mugs, ect.ect.ect... It is amazing how many people totally disregard this but it must be done, every successful Internet advertiser does, why don't you!!
